CASE STUDIES Initiative for a Competitive Milwaukee (ICM) Health Services Action Team (HSAT)
Urban Strategies provided research,planning and fund identification for the Health Services Action Team to move 1,000 entry‐level workers in the four Milwaukee area hospital systems into skilled positions and recruit and hire an additional 1,000 central city workers.Urban Strategies developed a business plan for HSAT and identified nearly $3 million in possible funding for rapid skill training and career advancement.

North Avenue Community Development Coordinating Council
This groups of 27 community groups paved the way for North Avenue Community Development Corporation, now a major force in retail and residential revitalization in Milwaukee. This group assessed neighborhood needs and outlined agency roles for coordination of services and programs. The gap in commercial real estate development was addressed with the establishment of a neighborhood community development corporation, serving a critical east‐west city corridor.

Donors Forum of Wisconsin (DFW) Community Development Roundtable
Private and public funders joined forcesto review and address community development issues, share project information and learn from local researchers and national experts.
Meeting monthly, Urban Strategies surveyed funders and
recruited Roundtable members, provided guidance to the core team, conducted surveys and complied data, and arranged events.
The Roundtable led to several major opportunities for joint action by private and public funding sources on key community issues on advocacy and resource development.
